Recruit Training
All prospective security officers must complete our comprehensive 40-hour recruit training course covering:
- Security officer roles, responsibilities, and professionalism
- Patrol techniques and officer safety procedures
- Access control, visitor screening, and report writing
- Emergency preparedness and crisis response
- Customer service, public relations, and conflict resolution
- State and municipal security guard regulations
This foundational training ensures all New York City Guard officers have a solid grounding in core security functions before advancing to role-specific instruction.
On-the-Job Training
Newly-hired officers participate in on-site job shadowing and mentorship to gain practical experience in areas such as:
- Security operations center procedures
- Mobile patrol responsibilities
- Post orders for specific assignment types
- Use of technology, equipment, and radios
- Client-specific policies and protocols
Continuous Education
To keep our teams’ skills sharp, all New York City Guard officers complete annual training refreshers and certification renewals covering:
- Defensive tactics and use of force regulations
- Active shooter response and counter-terrorism techniques
- Fire safety, hazmat protocols, and first aid/CPR
- Diversity, anti-bias, and de-escalation training
- Legal updates and changing security best practices
